Misys Healthcare Systems Partners With RxHub To Improve Efficiency And Patient Safety

Partnership will Reduce Medical Errors and Increase Quality of Care by Providing Comprehensive Medical Knowledge
RALEIGH, N.C. (June 20, 2006) - Misys Healthcare Systems, a market leader in healthcare IT, today announced that Payerpath, Misys' electronic connectivity business unit, has entered into partnership with RxHub®, a leader in connecting the prescribing industry for the exchange of patient-specific prescribing information between physicians, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), payers and pharmacies. Through RxHub services like PRN and SIG, physicians gain a comprehensive view of patients' medical histories and benefit information and can electronically send the prescription to the patients' pharmacy of choice; saving time and reducing the amount of costly errors and information gaps that can jeopardize patients' safety.

"The partnership between Misys and RxHub will give us more of the tools we need to provide the highest possible level of care," said Dr. Abe Levy, Medical Director and Chief Quality Officer at Mount Kisco Medical Group in Westchester County NY. "This is truly a major step forward in electronic medical records."

The combination of RxHub PRN and SIG provides additional data and online transaction capability to Misys EMR users that offers a significantly improved level of medication management for every prescriber. Physicians can feel confident that their prescribed treatment takes into account all of the patient's prescriptions. This electronic connectivity is a crucial component to improving patient safety.

"RxHub is extremely pleased to have Misys Healthcare Systems as a valued partner. We share a common belief in the power of technology through collaboration to improve the overall quality of health care," said Doug Johnson, Vice President of Technology Partners for RxHub. "This partnership leverages our respective technical and clinical strengths to deliver valuable decision support content to physicians in real time."

"Both Misys and RxHub are strong believers in electronic data interchange paving the way to a higher quality of care," said Jim Brady, president of Payerpath Inc., a Misys Company. "Our partnership is the next logical step towards our goal of a truly comprehensive solution for making all clinically relevant data – including from external sources like PBMs and pharmacies – available through Misys EMR to the prescriber at the point of care."

The full capabilities of the RxHub–Misys partnership will be available with the release of Misys EMR ® 8.1 in the Fall of 2006.
